Obituary

William "Jiggers" E. Gillett, age 84, of Stittville, passed away on September 14, 2026, at the Wynn Hospital, with his family at his bedside.

Jiggers was born on February 26, 1942, in Rome, to the late Horace and Pearl Harter Gillett, and grew up in Boonville. He attended Boonville Central School and then at the age of 70, earned his high school diploma from Proctor High School. On October 14, 1961, he was united in marriage to the former Rosalie Casamento at St. Leo's Church in Holland Patent. Jiggers was an over the road truck driver and worked for several local companies, traveling throughout the United States. Jiggers was a life member of the Stittville Fire Department and the Leon R. Roberts American Legion Post 161 SAL.

Jiggers is survived by his loving wife, Rosalie; his son, Michael (Jana) Gillett; his daughters, Patricia (Daniel) Henderson, Elaine (Barry) Rogers, and Marianne (Richard) Arsenault; his grandchildren, Ashley (Fran) Suppa, Daniel (Jon) Henderson Jr., Michael (Jenna) Gillett Jr., Joseph (Emma) Henderson, Shane (Mikayla) Rogers, Nicholas Arsenault, and James (Lily) Gillett; his great grandchildren, Brady Rogers, Elliana Suppa, Pria Rogers, Franco Suppa IV, Joseph Henderson Jr., and Olivia Henderson; his brother, Dennis (Sharon) Gillett; his sister, Marilyn Bourgeois; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert (Kay) Gillett.

The family would like to thank NP Laura and staff, and the doctors and nurses at the Wynn Hospital for their compassionate care.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 12 to 2 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Rome. A service will be held immediately following at 2 PM. Burial will be in Townsend Cemetery, Stittville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stittville or Floyd Fire Departments.
