William L. Desgrosiellier, age 74, of Wellesley Island and formerly of Rome, passed away peacefully, October 15, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.



He was born December 13, 1939, in Utica, a son of the late Joseph and Hazel Hawkins Desgrosiellier, and educated in Westmoreland schools. William was united in marriage to the former JoAnn Ryon, on July 25, 1987, in Lewis Point, NY. He formerly worked at Revere Copper Products, retiring many years ago.



William loved spending time, boating and enjoying the natural beauty of the St. Lawrence River. He also was a diehard New York Yankee and Giant fan. However, his greatest love was his family and many grand and great grandchildren, and his dog, "Sweetie".



William is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn; a son, Joseph Desgrosiellier of Wellesley Island; daughters, Rhonda and Michael Condes of Negley, OH, Kelly Vanderhoff and James Scotellaro of Floyd, Wendy Blair of Park Hills, KY, and Penny Falcone and Randy Eastup of Rome; two sisters and brothers in law, Yvonne Diane and Charles Langdon of Ruskin, FL, and Flora and Phil Howe of Westmoreland; two brothers and sisters in law, Joseph and Lillian Desgrosiellier of Rome, and George and Eileen Degrosiellier of Henderson, NV, his mother in law, Janeth Ryon of Rome; sister in law, and brother in law, Mary Claire and Robert Mondrick of Taberg; several nieces and nephews; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and his dog, "Sweetie".



The funeral service will be held Friday at 3:00 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.



Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Friday 12 to 3 PM, prior to the funeral service.



Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Rome.
