Warren E. Holmes, age 71, of State Route 13, Town of Vienna, passed away December 19, 2011.
He was born October 7, 1940, in the Town of Vienna, a son of the late Clarence and Sophia Walker Holmes, and graduated from Camden High School and SUNY Morrisville. Warren was united in marriage to the former Christine Rich, on March 1, 1975. He proudly served in the United State Marine Corps and was stationed at Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Blockade. He served as a New York State Police Trooper, retiring after 20 years of service. He was a Christian.
Warren loved the outdoors and working around the farm. He owned and operated his own saw mill and raised a multitude of farm animals, but most beloved were his oxen and horses.
Warren is survived by his wife, Chris; three daughters and sons in law, Jackie and Tony Malerba of Vienna, Wanda and Bob Caraher of Vienna, and Wendy and Richard Bird of Rome; a son and daughter in law, Eric and Michelle Holmes of Vienna; sisters and brothers in law, Barbara Bunnell of Blossvale, Martha and Robert Story of Blossvale, Mary and Don Barker of Camden, Wilma Pownall of Cleveland, Lorna and Frank Barok of Blossvale, and Della Wood of Hannibal; grandchildren, Alexandria and Christina Malerba, Robert (Heather), Maureen and Megan Caraher, Sean and Shelby Bird and Derek and Julia Holmes; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Linda and a brother, Aaron.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 10:00 AM at the United Presbyterian Church of Camden.
