Col. Wade F. Dewey, age 51, of the Town of Marcy, passed away peacefully, October 2, 2015, at home, with his family at his side.
He was born January 3, 1964, in Sedro-Woolley, WA, the son of William F. and Colleen S. Hurst Dewey. He grew up in Alaska, and graduated from Robert Service High School and Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aviation/Aerospace. Wade was united in marriage to the Former Selena Rose on May 19, 1984, in Lewisville, TX. He proudly served in the United States Air Force since 1986, and flew several missions as an F-16 pilot in Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2012, he was selected to be the Title 32 Commander at EADS. In 2015, he became the first Commander of the newly- established 224th Air Defense Group, New York Air National Guard.
Even with his busy schedule, Wade loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed the many fishing trips with his son, Mitchell, shooting skeet at the Clinton Gun Club and playing hockey in the "Old Timer's League" in Clinton.
Wade is survived by his loving wife, Selena; children, Corinne R. Dewey and Mitchell W. Dewey; his mother, Colleen Dewey of Wasilla, AK; two sisters and brothers in law, Sabra Phillips and Mark Hojem of Fairbanks, AK, and Billi and Howard Speer of Wasilla, AK. He was predeceased by his father, William F. Dewey.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday October 10, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at the First Presbyterian Church in Rome. Burial with Full Military Honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
