Timothy R. Thomas, age 62, of Lee Center, passed away May 16, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Tim was born in Rome, NY on March 2, 1951 to Hugh and Lena Flannigan Thomas. He attended the Rome City Schools and graduated from Rome Free Academy. On July 2, 1979, he married the former Sandra Anno in Rome, NY. Tim was a self-employed carpenter and contractor and also worked for several other contractors. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, and served a tour of duty in Vietnam.
Tim loved the outdoors, including gardening, fishing and spending adventure walks with friends and family. He loved going to the ocean, particularly spending vacations in the outer banks. He was a member of the Rome VFW and Smith Post #24 American Legion.
Tim has survived by his beloved wife, Sandy; three brothers, Donald Thomas of FL, David Thomas of Cocoa Beach, FL, and Jerry Thomas of Denver, CO; and a sister and brother in law, Patricia and Brian Goulet of Nashua, NH; his mother in law, Bertha Anno; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 5:00 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
