Theresa M. Cross, age 82, of Rome, passed away September 20, 2009, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, after a brief illness, with her loving husband and family at her side.
She was born December 17, 1926, in Rome, a daughter of Angelo and Elizabeth Mercurio Spada, and educated in Rome schools. Theresa was united in marriage to Leo K. Cross, on February 29, 1952, at the Church of St. John the Baptist.
Theresa loved her family and truly enjoyed cooking, caring and entertaining her family. She enjoyed her daily visit with her special neighbors.
Theresa is survived by her husband, Leo; six daughters and four sons in laws, Leona E. Cross, MD of Rome, Theresa and Joseph Bromley of Newtown, CT, Patricia and Greg Curtin of Burlington, NJ, Eduardo and Regina Jiron of Sacremento, CA, Mary C. Cross of Rome, and Christina and Kevin Barry of Rome; three sisters and a brother in law, Assunta Spada and Rosalie Spada of Fl, and Angelina and Dino Romano of Maryland; three brothers and two sisters in law, John J. Spada of Rome, Samuel and Odetta of Fountain Valley, CA, and Angelo and Sara Spada of Boonville; grandchildren, Paul and Marc Bromley, Andrew Curtin, Eduardo and Vincent Jiron, Orlando Cross, Mark and Patrick Barry; great grandson Orlando Cross; several nieces and nephews; special friends and neighbors, Mike, Jackie and Ryan Zbiegien and Henry and Georgia Ortiz. Predeceased by two brothers, Anthony C. Spada and Vincent "The Bear" Spada and sister in law Angeline Spada
Funeral Services are Thursday at 1:15 PM from Barry Funeral Home, 807 West Chestnut Street and 2:00 PM at St. Peter's Church in Rome. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Friends and Relatives may call at the funeral home Wednesday, 3:00 to 6:00 PM.
Memorial Contributions can be made to St. Peter's Church Memorial Fund.
