Stephen E. "Steve" Kozick

Stephen E. Kozick, Jr, of Rome, passed away March 6, 2010, peacefully at his home.
He was born September 17, 1926, in Rome, a son of Stephen E. and Pauline Maslowski Kozick, and graduated from Rome Free Academy. Steve was united in marriage to the former Jane M. Skwarek, on June 14, 1952, in the Church of the Transfiguration; she died September 7, 2003. He served many years as a fire fighter for the Rome Fire Department, retiring in 1977. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the Toccolano Club and the Frank J. Steczko Post.
Steve served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, and was very proud to have been awarded, and to wear, the "combat air crewman's wings" as an aviation radio operator and aerial gunner.
Steve is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Kozick of Rome; two sons and a daughter in law, Stephen III and Pamela J. Kozick of Dillsburg, PA, and Kenneth F. Kozick of Portsmouth, NH; a brother, Bernard (Ben) Kozick; grandchildren, Melanie Jane Kozick, Stephen Robert Kozick, 1st Lt. Paul Burl Kozick, USMC, and Livia Nightingale Kozick. He was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Kozick Fitsik, and brothers, William E., Joseph P., Frank E., and John T. Kozick.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2:00PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
