Sandra E. Evans, age 79, of Rome, passed away September 25, 2009, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, after a brief illness with her loving family at her side.
She was born May 8, 1930, in Kingston, a daughter of Glynden E. and Laura Lokay Waters, and graduated from Gratz High School and Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA. Sandra was united in marriage to William T. Evans, on November 10, 1951, in Philadelphia, PA.. She formerly was employed at Faxton Hospital and the former Colgate Infirmary. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Geneseo, IL.
Sandra's life revolved around loving and caring for her family, friends and grandchildren. She enjoyed the hobbies of cooking, gardening and crafting artificial flowers.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Bill; a son and daughter in law, Steven and Gail Evans of Millington, TN; grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth, Rachael Kathleen and Christina Joy Evans; and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert J. Waters.
A memorial service will be held Friday Ocotober 2, 2009, at 12 Noon, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be at a later date in Old Glendale Cemetery.
