Sandra L. Lockwood, age 69, of Rome, passed away February 25, 2012, from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident.



She was born September 11, 1942, in Syracuse, a daughter of William A. ande the late Geraldine Claffey Rezsnyak, and graduated from Rome Free Academy and MVCC. Sandi married Frank Scanlon in 1961. She later married H. Judson Lockwood in 1979; he died in 2009. She worked at Jervis Library, retiring after many years of service. She was a member of St. Peter's Church.



Sandi dedicated much of her time and energy to community service. She was a former member and president of the Rome School Board, former president of NYSSBA (New York School Board Association), a member of the Board of Trustees at SUNYIT, a member of the Board of Directors of Madison-Oneida BOCES and a member of Rome Rotary.



Sandi is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Shelley and Paul Falitico of Batavia, and Aimee and Massimo Martinucci of Batavia, a son and daughter in law, Michael and Mary Scanlon of Cicero; her father, William a. Rezsnyak; her former husband, Frank Scanlon of Florida; a sister and brother in law, Susan and David Rodney of Maryland; a brother, William Resnach of New Hartford; grandchildren, Bryan, Steven and Michael Falitico, Andrew and Corey Scanlon, Michelle, Joseph and Nicholas Martinucci; several nieces and nephews; and a true and dedicated friend since childhood, Judy Barry Destito.



Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:15 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and at 10:00 AM at St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.



Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday 4 to 7 PM.



A very sincere thank you is extended to Dr. Yannick Grenier, and the staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center ICU for their care and compassion extended to Sandi and her daughters.



Contributions in memory of Sandi may be made to Jervis Library or St. Elizabeth Medical Center ICU.
