Sandra D. (Roberts) Crandall, age 93, of Blossvale, passed away peacefully, October 14, 2010, at Oneida Healthcare Center, with her loving family at her side.
She was born May 6, 1917, in Mononga, West Virginia, a daughter of Frank and Mary Egri Darway, and graduated from Boonville Central School. Sandra was married to William Roberts in 1938; he died in 1967. She later married Lawrence Crandall in 1971; he died in 1991. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service and served as Postmaster of Blossvale.
During World War II, she served as a civilian "Staff "car driver fro military personnel at Griffiss Air Field. She also served as a Hungarian Language interpreter during the Hungarian Revolution.
Sandra is survived by a daughter and companion, Linda Talbot and David Patrick of Blossvale; a son and daughter in law, Barry W. and Jackie Roberts of San Diego, CA; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 8 sisters and brothers.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7:00 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
