Shini, age 30, of the Town of Camden, passed away peacefully at home on August 9, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer.Sam was born in Oneida, NY on October 20, 1991, to Allen Knowles and Mary Beth Millington, and graduated from Camden High School in 2010. On June 2, 2018, she was united in marriage to Indrit Shini. Sam formerly worked at Rome Health and was currently employed at the Family Dollar Distribution Center.Sam was a generous and kind-hearted person, always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. She loved to rescue cats. It brought her joy to bring help to homeless cats; finding, fixing, and rehoming them. She was a gift giver and it didn’t matter the cost. She loved baking with her son and sisters, reading, and blueberry/strawberry picking. She also had a great love of cats, currently having six of them. Her greatest pride and joy is her son, Dominic, and all of her cats.Sam is survived by her son, Dominic Knowles, her husband, Indrit Shini, her mother and step-father, Mary Beth and Marshall (Marny) Riopelle; her sisters Jennifer Knowles of Camden, and Katrina (Ryan) Cureton of Cape Coral, FL; her maternal grandmother, Theresa Montena; her half-sisters, Tanya (Neil) Cartwright, Vicki Hall both of the Bahamas, her step-sister, Meagan Riopelle of Boonville; her step-brother Marshall Riopelle III of GA; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and her cats, Hunter, Milo, Felix, Loki, Riley, and Zoey.The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Upstate Oncology Department and staff for the care and support shown to Sam and her family.A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 2 PM, at the Grace Baptist Church in Rome.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Rome.Arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W.
