Ryan K. Nutting, age 42, of Rome, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, at the Wynn Hospital, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ryan was born in Rome on September 30, 1982, to the late James “Jim” Nutting and Carol Berndt, and graduated from RFA. On August 13, 2011, he was united in marriage to the former Tara Westcott. Ryan was currently employed by Connected Community Schools and worked closely with the students at RFA and has had a positive impact on the students and their well-being.
Ryan was an active member of the Rome Community, volunteering in several organizations including coaching for the Pop Warner Cheerleaders, and youth baseball and basketball. He enjoyed golfing and played softball in the Rome Men’s Softball League. He was also a co-founder of the Marco Carletta Foundation, along with his best friend and sidekick, Gary Breen, who unfortunately passed away in December of 2024. He also enjoyed making memories on family vacations.
Ryan is survived by his loving wife, Tara; his daughter, Skylar Nutting; his son, Kristopher Nutting; his sister, Lindsay (Caleb) Blair; his brother, Tyler (Jenn) Nutting; his stepsister, Heather (Mike) Andrewski; his stepbrother, Jeff (Laura) Rasha; his stepmother, Sue Nutting; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends who have helped and supported him from the beginning of his diagnosis. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Hazel; and stepfather, Gary Rasha.
Ryan’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 5, at 6 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 6 PM prior to the service.
