Roseann Hoyt
Roseann Hoyt, 71, of Rome, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016 following a brief illness. She was born on November 2, 1944 in Rome, and was the daughter of Joseph and Gaetana (Jennie) Spinelli. Roseann was educated in Rome schools, and a 1962 graduate of Rome Free Academy. She was employed at the former Griffiss Air Force Base, where she worked as a secretary in civilian personnel.
On August 6th, 1966, she married John F. Hoyt at St. Mary's Church in Rome. Together they shared a special bond that lasted more than 47 years; Mr. Hoyt died January 30, 2014.
Roseann loved spending time with her family, friends and her special K-9 "Little Boy" - Callahan. She also loved cooking, baking, gardening, bird watching, reminiscing, and talking about current events. She will always be remembered for her kindness, wisdom, willingness to help others, and her delicious Italian cooking.
Roseann is survived by her loving son, John F. Hoyt Jr. of Blossvale, two brothers and sisters in law: Bruce and Sally Hoyt; and Robert and Bonnie Hoyt of FL. She is also survived by very special friends: Gail Combs; Rose Marie Martino; Tom and Lora Norton; Ann Walseman; and Cindy Rogers-Witt. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her daughter in law, Suzanne Hoyt.
Roseann's family and friends wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and staff Rome Memorial Hospital's ER, ICU, and 2 North for all the care and compassion given to her during her stay. Her family and friends also wish to thank everyone at International Wire Group, Inc. for all the support given to John while he was caring for Roseann during her illness.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 9:45 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and a Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Rev. Philip A. Hearn, at 10:30 AM, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday 4 to 6 PM.
