Ronald E. Salmon, Sr., age 72, of 11173 Taberg-Florence Road, passed away at home August 25, 2009.
He was born March 6, 1937, in Rome, a son of Erwin F. and Irene Clemens Salmon, and graduated from Camden High School. Ron was united in marriage to the former Joan E. Charney, on September 20, 1997, in Taberg. He was a machinist at Bartell Machinery Systems, retiring years ago. He proudly served in the United States Air Force.
Ron thoroughly enjoyed time spent with family and friends, whether it was playing cards, sitting around a campfire or just visiting.
He loved the outdoors and was and avid hunter and fisher; passing his love of the sports to his family. Ronnie was most proud of turning a tired piece of land into a thriving farm. His work ethic showed in everything he turned a hand.
Ron would tell you what the bear did in the buckwheat and always stood by his word. You would be hard pressed to find a more honest and trustworthy man.
Ron is survived by his wife, Joan; two daughters and sons in law, Trudy and Michael Radcliffe of Lansing, NY, and Rebecca Salmon and husband Louis Delgado; two sons, Ronald E. Salmon Jr, and Susanne Jones of Camden, and Richard E. Salmon of India; brothers and sisters in law, David W. and LouAnn Salmon of Taberg, and Leigh O. and Shirley Salmon of Florida; grandchildren, Melissa, Joseph and Megan Salmon, Karyn, Chelsie and Abby Radcliffe, Nikolaus Swancott and Savannah Torres; and a great grandchild, Tyler Salmon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Salmon.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Cemetery, Rome.
