Ronald D. Carey, Sr., age 80, of Taberg, passed away June 11, 2016, at Rome Memorial Hospital.
He was born December 7, 1935, in Peekskill, NY, the son of the late Hiram and Veronica Begany Carey, and attended Peekskill schools. Ron was united in marriage to the former Cynthia A. Moore, on December 25, 1958, in Peekskill; she died November 4, 2007. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1958-60. He worked as a chemist for Union Carbide for over 25 years several years.
Ron is survived by two sons, Peter and Maryjean Carey of Rome, and Michael Carey and Kelly Ashworth of W. Virginia; grandchildren, Lisa Smith and her husband, Scott, Amanda Thompson and her husband Matt, Joshua Carey and Jason Carey; and great grandchildren, Arianna, Joshua, Jr., and Emilia. He was predeceased by a son, Ronald D. Carey, Jr., and three sisters, Vera Saunders, Catherine Righi and Loretta Metzger.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at 1:00 PM, at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Lee State Road Cemetery.
