Roger A. Palczynski, age 71, of Rome, passed away November21, 2013, in Rome Memorial Hospital, with his loving family at his side.



He was born December 5, 1941, in Utica, a son of the late Raymond B. and Frances Wilczek Palczynski, and graduated from Whitesboro High School. Roger was united in marriage to the former June DePasquale on January 10, 1975, in Holy Trinity Church in Utica. He formerly worked at General Electric in Utica and later worked and retired from the Rite Aid Distribution Center in Rome. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Church of the Transfiguration.



Roger was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the beautiful countryside of Central New York. He also loved to cook and entertain his family and friends, and was a true "Boston Strong" Red Sox fan.



Roger is survived by his loving wife, June; children, Lynn M. Palczynski and Daniel Palczynski of Rome; a sister and brother in law, Lorraine and Leo Sczrbaniewicz; a brother and sister in law, Russell and Olga Palczynski of Utica; sisters in law and brothers in law, Fritzi and Joe Madeira of Utica, MaryJane and Gary Doonan of Rome, Joan Heath of Liberty, SC, Frank and Chris DePasquale of Castle Rock, CA and Frank Brown of Rome; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister in law, Gloria Brown and brother in law, Tom DePasquale.



Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:15 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at the Church of St. John the Baptist. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.



Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday 4 to 7 PM.
