Robert "Bob" D. Smalley, age 85, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 6th, 1939, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Arthur and Helen (O'Rourke) Smalley, Robert earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute. A proud veteran, he served his country with honor in the United States Army, as part of the Counterintelligence Corps and was stationed in Germany, being honorably discharged in 1965. On October 24, 1970, Robert was united in marriage to the former Patricia Gregis at Our Lady of Czestochowa-St. Casimir Parish, Brooklyn NY.
Bob worked in marketing and sales for Revere Copper Products and Varflex. In his free time, Bob enjoyed golfing, wood-working, model trains, and listening to classical music. His family meant everything to him, and he thoroughly loved the times spent together.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his daughter, Jennifer (Derek) Ostrowski of Weedsport, NY; his sons, Brian (Lyudmila) Smalley of Brooklyn, NY, and Kevin (Dawn) Smalley of Manlius, NY; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Anastasia, Patrick, and Kaylee; his sister, Patricia Gregis; his brother, Arthur "Mickey" Smalley; brother-in-law Thomas (Barbara) Gregis, and sister-in-law Marian Smalley along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Betty Maher; his brother, John Smalley; and brother-in-law, Paul Gregis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11 AM, at St. Paul's Church. Burial with military honors will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at St. Paul's Church from 10 to 11 AM prior to the mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, a cause close to Robert's heart.
