Robert A. Armstrong Jr., age 83, of Rome, passed away on September 14, 2026, at Rome Health.

Robert was born in Rome on August 14, 1943, to the late Robert and Jane Castle Armstrong, and graduated from Oriskany Central School. On October 14, 1962, he was united in marriage to the former Joan Doty. 

Robert worked and retired from the NYS Department of Corrections. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed all sports. He mostly took pride in keeping his lawn mowed and the homestead immaculate. His family always came first. He was a member of the Stanwix Heights men club and had many friends there.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; his daughters, Tracy (James Burbatt) Armstrong and Pamela Armstrong and her caregiver, Marli Harrington; his sons, Randall (Meg) Armstrong, and Rodney (Sandy) Armstrong; his grandchildren, Jessica (Matt) Stokes, Justin (Terese) Armstrong, Corey and Gabby Armstrong, Maddison (Joseph) Orsini, and Kyle (Kenni Lachocotte) Armstrong; his great grandchildren, Elliotte and Emery Stokes, Gray, Addison, and Ryne Armstrong, and Atlas Orsini; and his brother, Richard (Jodi) Armstrong. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
