Richard E. Johnson

On February 16, 2025, I lost my very best friend, my husband, Richard Johnson (1942-2025). My life is forever changed. I miss him terribly.

He was a good and loving husband and father (not perfect by any means) for 60 years. He asked me not to go on about him so I will abide by his wishes. God blessed us with two children and two grandchildren.

I just want to acknowledge him and all of the people who were so good to him.

He suffered greatly and God provided me with the strength to care for him at home with the help of Palliative Care nurses whom I am forever grateful. I also give thanks for: the many Rome Fire Department personnel for the many times they came out to put Richard in bed after his many falls; all of the staff in the ER at Rome Health who gently cared for him (and me); and the AmCare Ambulance Service who were always looking out for his comfort.

Most of all, I thank God for Richard and the long-life journey we shared (....in sickness and health till death do us part).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on February 24 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Rome.

There will be no calling hours.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
