Richard H. Boston, 74, of Rome passed away May 11, 2016, at Rome Memorial Hospital.
He was born December 18, 1941, in Wells, Maine, a son the late Ralph and Esther Hutchins Boston. Richard was united in marriage to Patricia A Kent, on April 5, 1975, in St. Paul's Church. He proudly served in the Navy, Army and United States Air Force, served three tours in Vietnam, receiving many medals and awards before retiring in 1979.
One man won't be at roll call in the morning; he's been called home. He was a soldier, sailor, airman and Vietnam vet 3 times; he answered the call. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He had many accomplishments on this earth, to name them all, we couldn't afford to print. He was a member of the Army Presidential Honor Guard during the Kennedy era, an advisor in Vietnam with the Army, a B-52 Crew Chief and instructor with the Air Force. He also was a Brinks man, school bus and coach bus driver, avid shooter of pistols, rifles, and shotguns (skeet), hunter, fisherman, camper and all around outdoorsman. Now go rest high upon that mountain, your work on earth is done. May you rest in peace Sgt. Boston
Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter and daughter in law, Amanda and Tammy DellAnno- Boston, and their children, Taylor and Amamda; Grandson Eric Boston and wife, Tegan and their children, Caidence and Ethan; a daughter in law, Kimberly Boston; a sister, Victoria "Queenie" Sayward; a brother, Edward Boston; and many special in-laws, beloved nieces and nephews and special friends.
