Phyllis Irene Leitz, 71, of Lee Center, passed away peacefully October 30, 2010, with her loving family at her side.



She was born July 30, 1939, in Rome, a daughter of Leon and Louise Palmer, and educated in Rome schools. She was united in marriage to William Leitz, in Lee Center; he died January 23, 2005. She was a member of the Lee Center United Methodist Church.



Phyllis enjoyed having her children and family around her. She always thought of her family and friends first. She loved and cared dearly for her dog, Storm, and two cats, Georgie and Munchkin.



Phyllis is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Cindy and Dooley Logarde of Thibodaux, LA, Wendy and Mark Evans of Rome, Terry and David Jones of Rome, Billie Jean Leitz of Ilion, Margot and Armond Damiano of Murfreesboro, TN; a son, John H. Haywood III of Auburn ; two sisters and a brother in law, Ann and David Mullen of Fayetteville, and Janet Leitz of Swanson, NJ; a brother, Paul Palmer of Empyville, NY; 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; and special friends, Butch and April Dolan; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Leon and Louise Palmer; sisters, Myrtle Johnson, Dorothy Miller and Mildred Leitz; and brothers, John and Fred Palmer.



The funeral service will be held Thursday at 12:00 Noon, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.



Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday from 11 AM to 12 Noon, prior to the funeral service.



The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Maparra for his care and compassion extended to Phyllis during her illness.
