Peter Bonacci, age 79, of Rome, passed away on March 7, 2026, at Rome Health.

Peter was born in Syracuse on February 19, 1947, to the late Nick and Dorothy Cianfrano Bonacci. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. He retired from the federal government working for NORAD at Griffiss AFB.

Peter found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time at the casino and watching the horse races at Vernon Downs. An avid golfer, he took every opportunity to get out on the course, and he enjoyed bowling with friends and family. Peter had a lifelong love for all things Elvis, and Sunday dinners with his sister, Corrina Harris, were among his most cherished traditions - especially when he could enjoy her cooking. He was also a devoted sports fan who rarely missed a game.

Peter is survived by his sons, Shawn Bonacci of Rome, and Peter Bonacci of Oregon; his sister, Corrina Harris; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Rodney, Robert, Nicholas, and Anthony.

A graveside service will be held at St. John's Cemetery at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
