Paul A. Moles, age 75, of Rome, passed away peacefully at his home, August 31, 2010.
He was born April 23, 1935, in Byrdstown, TN, a son of Fate and Sarah Smith Moles, and educated in Tennessee school and later graduated from MVCC. Paul proudly served in the United States Air Force for over 21 years, retiring in 1994. He later worked as a manager at the GAFB Commissary. Paul was united in marriage to the former Jean A. Izzo, on August 2, 1991, at St. Ann's Church in Glenmore, NY.
He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church.
Paul loved being outdoors, and enjoyed fishing and gardening. His passion was his horses. For many years, Paul raised and rode his Morgan Horses. His other hobbies were restoring antiques and woodworking.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Jean: four daughters and sons in law, Cheryl and James Gabler of Taberg, Sandra and John Northrup of Blossvale, Karen and Christopher Burke of Kinderhook, and Julie and Heath Spink of Camden; two stepdaughters and spouses, Anne and Lou Daniello of Rome, Kelley and Charles Kotary of Rome, and a stepson, Lawrence Christopher, Jr. of Rome; a sister, Jewell Arnett of Tennessee; a brother Thurmond Moles of Indiana; and several grand and great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12:45 PM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and at 1:30 PM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Friday 4 to 7 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care or St. Mary's Church Memorial Fund.
