Paul W. Henderson, age 56, of Rome, passed away peacefully, December 10, 2012, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 16, 1956, in Rome, the son of the late Howard (Hobby) and Grace Randal Henderson, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1974. Paul previously worked at Revere Copper Products and for the past several years has served as a Corrections Officer at Oneida and Mohawk Correctional Facilities in Rome.
Paul was an avid outdoor sportsman and enjoyed all four seasons. His many sports included boating, hunting, camping and snowmobiling.
Paul is survived by his loving daughter and son in law, Michele and Brad Spooner of Oriskany Falls; special friends, Bonnie Nasci-Parker and Jay McMahon of Rome; nieces and nephews, Kimber Marshall, Jessica and Gary Podkowka, and Todd Marshall, and his extended family of Corrections Officers who have been a tremendous support to Paul during his illness. He was predeceased by a sister, JoAnn Marshall.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Wednesday, 1 to 3 PM, and 5 to 7 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care.
