Patrick "Pat" Hickey, age 60, of Rome, passed away peacefully at home, July 6, 2013, with his family at his side.
He was born September 10, 1952, in Hamilton, a son of Harold and Hazel Clark Hickey. He graduated from Hamilton Central School and attended Alfred State. Pat was united in marriage to the former Ann Marie D'Antonio, on October 19, 1983, in St. Paul's Church. He was employed at Bus Industries in Oriskany, and also bartended at the Rome Elks Club. Pat proudly served in the U.S. Army and was assigned to a missile program in Germany. He was a member of the Rome VFW Men's Auxiliary, and former member of the Rome Elks and Smith Post, American Legion.
Pat was a true sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed golfing. He appreciated the good times and many friends he made while playing in the Eagle Golf League and Thursday Night League at Griffiss. He also enjoyed playing Shuffleboard at the VFW.
Pat is survived by his loving wife, Ann Marie; son, Paul Enslin and fiance´e Holly Pierce of Rome; mother in law, Phyllis D'Antonio of Rome; brother and sister in law, Mike and Janis Hickey of Rome; and grandchildren, Anthony, Zachary, Joel, Joshua and Ayden Enslin; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, David Enslin; and three sisters, Faith Ryan, Marlene Miles and Barbara Lodor; and a brother, Bud Hickey.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Rome Memorial Hospital 2 East, mother in law, Phyllis D'Antonio, sister in law, Paula Hastings, brother and sister in law, Mike and Janis Hickey, nephew, Erik Hastings and all Pat's great friends, for their hours and days of care, compassion and friendship extended to Pat during his illness.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:30 PM, at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday 4 to 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
