Patricia A. Murphy departed this life on Wednesday, January 15th, 2025, at the age of 71, after courageous battle with cancer.
Patty was born in Utica on August 6, 1953 to the late John and Mildred Cahaney Murphy, and educated in the Rome Schools. She worked as a nurse's aide for over 18 years at Rome Memorial Hospital and eventually took a job in the business office. She enjoyed reading true crime novels, going for rides to places to eat, animals, and making memories with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a kind hearted person and would lend a hand to anyone she met.
Patty is survived by her loving companion of over 50 years, David Cadrette; her sons, Shawn Murphy, Daniel (Lori) Murphy, and Chad (Devyn Fisher) Murphy all of Rome; her grandchildren, Justin (Kelsea), Gina, Tyler (Haylee Metcalf), Maya, and Ronan; her great grandchildren, Isabella, Lennox, Blake, Kyrie, Reign, and Lincoln; her sister, Deborah "Joan" Murphy; her brother, Dennis Gebo; many special friends including, Karen Lyke, Collen Daighnault, Bonnie Merchant, and Marge Davis; her dogs, Mojo and Biscuit; and her cat, Bug. She was predeceased by her brother, Patrick Murphy; and several special pets.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Summer Aiello and Jason Moore for their love, support, and care shown to Patty during her illness.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, on Sunday, January 19th, 2025, from 12 to 2 PM. A funeral service will follow at 2 PM.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Patty's memory to the Rome Humane Society.
