Patricia A. Charney, 84, of Rome-Taberg Road, died October 19, 2010, at home with her loving family at her side.



She was born December 19, 1925, in Little Falls, the youngest daughter of William C. and Florence Bingham Haley, and graduated from St. Aloysius Academy in 1944. Patricia was united in marriage to Peter N. Charney on May 22, 1948, in St. Mary's Church; Peter died on October 26, 2001. She worked in retail sales at the former Montgomery Wards, Sears Roebuck and Co. and Community Distributors in Rome. She was a lifetime communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, and a member of the Altar Rosary Society.



Patricia was a devoted wife, caring mother, cherished sister, compassionate aunt, beloved sister in law, gracious friend, wonderful cook and gifted singer, and enjoyed music and swimming, especially with her friends at the "Y"



Patricia is survived by daughters and sons in law, Katherine A and Richard Simpson of Taberg, Michele A. and David Perella of Cicero; a son and a daughter in law, Peter "Bill" and Kathy Charney of Waldorf, MD; daughters, Mary R. Charney of Black River, NY, Elizabeth A. Nadeau of Lee Center and fiance´e, Darrell Curtis, and Joan E. Salmon of Florence. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Rob (Anette) Simpson, Patricia Simpson, and Nicholas and Christopher Charney; 4 great grandchildren, Alexander, Abigail, Benjamin and Freja Simpson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a special friend Alice Gafner. She was predeceased by her sisters, Ellen Dunn, Celeste Washburn and Lucille Albanoski and her brothers, John, Edwin, James, Lauren (Luke), Joel and Richard Haley; her daughter, Cynthia; and a son in law Ron Salmon and great grandson Casper Simpson.



Funeral services will be held Thursday October 28, 2010, at 9:45 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.



Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday October 27, 2010, at the funeral home, 3:30 to 7:30 PM.



Memorial contributions may be made to Lee Center Volunteer Fire Department or Hospice and Palliative Care.
