Obituary

Patricia Anne "Patti" D'Aiuto Gifford passed away on August 29, 2026. She was born on February 8, 1948, in Rome, New York, to her beloved parents, Angeline Fiaschetti Hatfield and William Hatfield.

Patti devoted 42 years of service to the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (NYS DDSO) before retiring. Her dedication and compassion touched countless lives throughout her long career.

On September 21, 2019, Patti married her loving and devoted husband, Mark Gifford. Together, they shared many cherished memories, companionship, and a love that remained an important part of her life. She loved shopping, fine dining, and vacationing with her family and friends. More than anything, Patti loved her family with a depth that words could never fully express.

She held an especially treasured place in her heart for her granddaughter, Karlie Angeline Neiss, whom she helped raise and loved as her own, and for Karlie's children, Alexi, Novaline, and Corban. They were the center of her world and brought her immeasurable happiness and pride. Patti also held her grandchildren Angelina, Breana, Tyler, and Michael close to her heart. Patti shared a special and loving bond with Brenda, who loved her dearly and remained close to her throughout her life.

Patti was predeceased by her late husband, David D'Aiuto; her parents, Angeline and William Hatfield; her sisters, Elaine and Elinor; her son, Wayne Neiss; her stepdaughter, Miranda Gifford; and her niece, Savannah.

Patti was truly one in a million. Her love was unconditional, her loyalty unwavering, and her devotion to her family unmatched. She touched more hearts than she could have ever known, and the love, strength, and memories she gave to those closest to her will remain forever.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11 AM, at St. Peter's Church, 200 N. James Street, Rome. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
