Muriel A. Goggin, age 81, of Rome, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2011, at Rome Memorial Hospital.
She was born August 28, 1929 in Oneida, a daughter of Raymond and Bertha Sykes Adey, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1947. Muriel was united in marriage to John M. Goggin, in St. Leo's Church, Holland Patent; he died February 18, 1995. She was employed at Rome Strip Steel and later at Dr. Edwin Russell's office, retiring after many years of service. She was a member of the Methodist Faith.
Muriel is survived by two daughters and a son in law, Ann and Robert Arutt of Chapel Hill, NC, and Cynthia (Cindy) Goggin of Rome; a sister and brother in law, Lorna and Richard Froschauer of Westmoreland; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, John Goggin and a brother, Franklin (Scoop) Adey.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM.
