Henry Sr., 88, of Clinton went to be with the Lord on May 15, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose selfless love and sense of humor will be deeply missed.Michael was born on October 25, 1935 in New Bremen, NY. He was a graduate of Oriskany High School. He served in the U.S. Army and later was employed by GE Aerospace for 35 years until his retirement in 1993. He spent his retirement years between the Adirondacks at his home on Kayuta Lake and his home in Florida where he made many lifelong friendships. To his many friends he was known as "Mikey."On October 26, 1957, Michael married the love of his life, Sheila Tanner, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rome. More than anything, Michael was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his family, whom he and Sheila raised in a special neighborhood on Albrecht Road in Westmoreland. His favorite family memories were camping at Nick's lake. He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, hunting (“sleeping in the woods”), and was a member of the Love Post American Legion in Boonville. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Sheila; children, Ellen Myers (James), Denise Lopez (Oscar), Terri Crane (David), Lynette McDaniel (Thomas), Michael Henry Jr. (Rebecca), and Patrice Roman (Roberto); 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Phoebe Mautner (Jack), and Mary Mogensen (John); several nieces and nephews; and his beloved yorkie, Chloe. Michael was predeceased by a daughter, Patrice Marie; his parents, Bernard Sr. and Ruth Henry; brothers, Thomas, Bernard Jr. and Louis Henry; sisters, Helen Humez and Janice Bowers; and grandson, Justin Knaperek.The family would like to give thanks to his special caregiver Angela "Angie" Mahler and the staff at the Lutheran Home Bryant Unit.A memorial mass with military honors will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 AM at St. Peter's Church in Rome.
