Mary E. Kulisz, age 82, of Rome, passed away December 15, 2011, after a brief illness.
She was born December 20, 1928, in Lacona, NY, a daughter of the late Benjamin H. and Gladys Irene Nemier Woodruff, and educated in Sandy Creek and Pulaski schools. Mary was united in marriage to Ambrose Kulisz, on April 24, 1970, at the Church of the Transfiguration; he died February 13, 1993. She formerly worked for the Rome City School District, Cingranelli's Appliance Store and the Rome Development Center. She was a member of the Church of the Transfiguration, and Altar Rosary Society, South Rome Seniors, Floyd Seniors, Marcy Seniors and the Floyd Fire Department Auxiliary.
Mary was a kind, friendly and generous person, who treated everyone as though they were family. She gladly and generously volunteered her time to many organizations and truly enjoyed the friends she made over the years.
Mary is survived by a sister, Iva Mae Goodwin of Pulaski; a sister in law, Valerie Woodruff of Rome; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, William H. Woodruff, brothers in law, James Goodwin, Sr., and Walter Kulecz.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:45 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street and at 10:30 AM at the Church of the Transfiguration. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday, 4 to 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Rome Seniors, Floyd Up and Lively Seniors, Marcy Seniors or the Floyd Fire Department Auxiliary.
