Mary Slachta
Mary Slachta, age 88, of North Ft. Myers, FL, and formerly of Vernon, passed away Monday August 24, 2009.
She was born February 22, 1921, in Czechoslovakia, a daughter of George and Barbara Havrilec. Mary came to New York City in 1938. She met and married her husband, Steve, on November 2, 1940; a beloved union of 68 years. They moved to Vernon. She retired from Oneida Ltd Silversmiths, and moved to the Ft. Myers, FL., area 27 years ago.
Mary had a true heartfelt love for her family, and was known for her great sense of humor. She loved her church and enjoyed singing during the services. She also enjoyed crocheting, exercising and walking.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Steve; three children, Steven of Bonita Springs, FL, Joan (Bruce) Small of Rome, and Ann Slachta of Red Oak, TX; two grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Hill and Holly (Marc) Kohli; and three great grandchildren, Tanner and Tammy Hill, and Joshua Kohli; a sister in law, Vivian Slachta and a nephew, Nicholas (Wendy) Slachta of Pennsylvania.
A memorial service will be held in Ft. Myers, FL.
