Mary C. Razzano

May 7, 1956 — June 16, 2025

Mary Clare Razzano, 69, of Rome, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on June 16, 2025 at The Abraham House, comforted by family.

She was born in Rome, NY on May 7,1956 to the late Matthew Francis and Clare Isom Razzano. Mary grew up in Rome and was educated in St. Peter’s and Rome Catholic High schools. She graduated from RCH in 1974. As a teenager, she used her artistic skills at drawing. She painted beautiful Japanese watercolors. She was always interested in music, the arts, entertainment and in the horoscope. She was the family’s personal “TV guide”, letting everyone know when an award show, interview, Olympics, tennis match etc was on TV. Mary was actually a walking musical encyclopedia of artists of different genres and different eras. She loved artists in musical groups who others at first overlooked, like Micky Dolenz from the Monkees and George Harrison from the Beatles, and was a lifelong fan of singers Linda Ronstadt, Cher, The Bee Gees, Adam Lambert and Tony Bennett. She shared interesting videos of artists she knew others liked and made our Mom an Adam Lambert fan. She worked at the Food-a-Rama as a teenager and at her parent’s newsstand Razzano’s News & Variety from 1980-1999.

A thoughtful woman, she always put her parents first. Mom was Mary’s best friend, and Mary did her best to look after her and Dad as they aged. She became very close friends with cousin Mary Ellen, especially after Mom’s death. Mary battled Parkinson’s Disease for many years and admired the exhaustive work of Michael J. Fox. Her late cousin Gary Sharpe was of particular help to her.

Mary is survived by four siblings: Brian (Sonia LaMonte) Razzano of Utica, Karen (Beth Feldman Brandt) Razzano of Drexel Hill, PA, Matt (Lori) Razzano of Holland Patent and Ann (Terry) Stedman of Poland, NY; Mary had several nieces and nephews: Kellen and his wife Laura, Glenn, Brandon and his wife Jessica, Anthony, Ryan and his wife Maryangela, James, Autumn, Kyleigh, Dominick, Helaina, Ava, Kaden, Cyprian, Charles, Genevieve and Finan. She is survived by several cousins including Mary Ellen Isom, Holly Wheeler, and Suzie Bates Mortensen. She was predeceased by her parents Clare and Matthew.

The family appreciates the wonderful Do family, and the friends and family members who offered prayers and support. Lastly, the family would also like to thank the exceptional and caring staff at Upstate Cancer Center in Syracuse, Rome Health Emergency Department, nurses and doctors in Rome Health (2nd floor East), Hospice & Palliative Care, the MVHS Regional Cancer Center (Faxton Campus), The Abraham House team in Rome, and Doctors Nicole Pineau, Allison Roy, Andrew Bushnell, Uri Goldberg, Samir Desai, Nicoletta Tallandini, Dragos Mihaila, Anuradha Duleep, and PA Windy Mitchell.
