Marilyn Sears Palinski, age 57, passed away peacefully November 27, 2013 with her loving family at her side.



She was born June 9, 1956, in Rome a daughter of Robert J. and Geraldine McCormick Sears. Marilyn graduated from Rome Catholic High School and pursued a nursing degree at Crouse Irving Memorial. She later went on to achieve her Bachelor's degree from Keuka College. On September 17, 1977, she married Thomas Palinski at St. Peter's Church in Rome.



Marilyn was employed at Rome Memorial Hospital as a Registered nurse for 32 years. During her time at Rome Hospital, she was heavily involved in youth education programs and initiated the smoking cessation program. Marilyn was active in Saint Peter's Parish and was a religious education instructor. Family meant everything to Marilyn and she always put them before herself. She had a special place in her heart for her granddaughter, Madelyn.



Marilyn is survived by her husband, Tom; three daughters and a son in law, Kimberly and Kristen Palinski and Jennifer and Scott Hummel; her loving granddaughter, Madelyn; her mother, Geraldine M. Sears; her mother in law, Doris Palinski; a sister and brother in law, Patti and Tom Kleck of Westernville; and a brother and sister in law, Tim and Carrie Sears of Durhamville, NC. She was predeceased by her father, Robert J. Sears; a brother, Robert M. Sears; and a father in law, Michael Palinski.



Marilyn's family wishes to sincerely thank the healthcare providers for their love and care, especially Dawn Whitcombe.



Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 30 at 10:15 AM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM at St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.



Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 PM.



In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Peter's Parish.
