Marian "Marty" P. Converse, age 83, of Rome, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2017, with her family at her side.
She was born March 16, 1934, in Rome, a daughter of the late William J. Jr. and Esther Berry Powers. She graduated from Rome Free Academy and Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. Marian was united in marriage to Leonard Converse on September 11, 1965, at St. Paul's Church. She worked for many years as a contract specialist in procurement at Griffiss Air Force Base. She was a member of St. Paul's Church.
Marian's life revolved around her family. She centered her life in family trips, vacations and her home.
Marian is survived by her husband of 51 years, Leonard; a son, Michael P. Converse of Rome; and many sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews and many great friends. She was predeceased by a sister, Faith Tuttle, an infant sister, Marcellaine Powers, a brother, Ronald C. Powers, and a nephew, William Tuttle.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Wednesday 10 to11 AM, prior to the funeral service.
