Madeleine M.
Lipe
May 20, 1932 – April 11, 2026
Madeleine (Korman) Lipe, age 93 of the Town of Floyd, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, at the Masonic Care Community, Utica, NY.
Madeleine "Mickey" was born in Throop, Pennsylvania, on May 20, 1932, daughter of Albert and Josephine (Bujno) Korman. She grew up in the vicinity of Throop, later moving with her family to Detroit, MI during the war. The Korman family's final home was a dairy farm in Port Leyden, NY. In March 1951, at 19, she joined the Army serving three years in the US and in Hanau Signal Depot, Germany, where she met SFC Gene F. Lipe. On February 20, 1954 she married Gene in Waynesville, Missouri. Gene passed in 2007. In addition to her military service, Madeleine served 29 years as a Civil Servant at Griffiss AFB, NY in the Logistics/Supply Division, before retiring in 1987.
Madeleine was a proud veteran always wearing her "Veteran" hat at events. She was an inaugural member of the Military Women's Memorial in Arlington Cemetery with an honorary brick in her name.
As an avid Country Western (CW) fan in her healthier years, she and Gene enjoyed traveling around the United States to various national CW events. She was an officer of the Tammy Wynette Fan Club and attended Tammy Wynette and George Jones' daughter, Georgette's, wedding. She was an avid NASCAR fan, attending many races across the US, celebrating Tony Stewart's wins! Her favorite activities over the years were baking and more baking, talented Jeopardy Queen contestant, crossword puzzles of any kind, reading, sometimes reading 5 to 6 books a week and supporting the NYS lottery system.
Madeleine is survived by her daughter, Jean Iselo (Timothy Lamoy); her son, Robert O. (Angela) Lipe; grandchildren, Lisa A. (William) Nemyier, Lacee (Matthew) Hanley, Christopher (Randi) Lipe, William (Danielle) Lipe, Jonathan (Kelli) Lipe; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Lyla, and Michaela Cushman, Abigail and Natalie Lipe, Lia and Landon Hanley, and Grant and Connor Lipe; a brother, William Korman of Greenwich, NY; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Beth and Wayne Inman of Bellevue, Idaho. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in the local area and the mid-west USA.
She is predeceased by her parents; a brother, Robert Korman in 1970, two sisters and their spouses, Daniel & Wilhelmina Kornatowski and Isadore and Lillian Paluck; sister-in-law, Judy (Smith) Korman; and son-in-law, Michael J. Iselo.
Thank you to the family and friends who assisted and cheered Madeleine during her final years; especially Timothy Lamoy for taking her to Masonic music events, physical therapy and Bingo over the past 2 years. She so enjoyed receiving the many cards and lottery tickets sent to her.
A special thanks to all who assisted Madeleine with professional and loving medical care; many of the Masonic Care Community staff, especially Eloise, Ruby, Jay, Tina, Susie, Corey, Alia, Mariana, Ashley, Skylar and Cassie and the Floyd Volunteer Fire Department.
A Mass of Christian Burial with military honors will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11 AM, at the Church of St. John the Baptist. In keeping with Madeleine's wishes, her burial will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the church from 10 to 11 AM prior to the mass.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Floyd Fire Department or the Tunnels to Towers (t2t.org) organization for fallen or injured Veterans and First Responders.
