Luella P. VanWagenen, age 83, of Lee Center, passed away peacefully November 2, 2011, with her loving family at her side.
She was born April 14, 1928, in Rome, a daughter of Walter and Izetta Kobler Finster and was educated in Lee schools. Luella was united in marriage to Harold E. VanWagenen, on June 9, 1956, in the Lee Center United Methodist Church.
"Lu" loved her home. She enjoyed taking care of her home and working in the garden with Harold. She and Harold always enjoyed their Saturday nights out for dinner and dancing.
Luella is survived by her husband of 55 years, Harold; three sisters, Izetta Thomas of Rome, Virginia Prosser of Rome, and Pauline Koster of Rome; two brothers and sisters in law, John and Marion Finster of Lee Center, and Paul and Violet Finster of Rome; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Cindy Lu; her parents, Walter and Izzeta Finster; two sisters, Frances Sharpe and Emily Alder; and four brothers, Charles, Walter, Fred and Donald Finster.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 2:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Sunday 3 to 7 PM.
