Lori A. Gawarecki - Hammon, of Taberg, passed away unexpectedly on August 30, 2026, which was her 63rd birthday, at the Grand in Rome.

Lori was born in Rome on August 30, 1963, to the late Richard and Eleanor Fassler Gawarecki, and graduated from RFA in 1982. She worked in retail at various local stores and spent the majority of her career at Wal-Mart in Rome. Lori loved playing cards, especially pitch, and enjoyed Adirondack Black Bears, her collection of Christmas wrapping paper, and solar lights. She was a member of the Lee Center Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary and the Frank J. Steczko Post.

Lori is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Dale) Gawarecki, her stepchildren, Tasha (Scott) Merchant, Melanie (Jeff) Coonrod, and Todd (Erica) Hammon; many grandchildren and great grandchildren especially her granddaughter Caitlin (Devon) Gawarecki whom she raised as her daughter; her sister, Kathy (Frankie) Tanner, her brothers, Rick (Tracy) Gawarecki, and Walt (Millie) Gawarecki; nieces (Amanda, Haley, Ashleigh), nephews (Dan, Keith), many great nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends, especially her best friend Julie Barton, and Renee DeLong; and her Wal-Mart family - especially Yvette, Christine, Amboy, and Loren. She was predeceased by her stepson, Michael Hammon, fiancé, Dan Blinn, her stepfather, Paul Litwin, and her K-9 companion, Toby.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 2 to 4 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
