Linda A. Potter, age 58, of Golly Road, passed away July 24, 2009, at the Siegenthaler Center, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, with her loving family at her side.
She was born July 19, 1951, in Rome, a daughter of Thomas and Pernal Murphy Petrie, and graduated from RFA, Utica College and earned a Master's Degree in Education from Walden College. Linda was united in marriage to William J. Potter on July 15, 1972. She was extremely proud of earning her Master's Degree and fulfilling a lifelong goal of teaching English. She was an English teacher at John F. Kennedy Middle School in Utica. She was formerly employed at U. S. Airways. She was a member of Life in Christ Church.
Linda is survived by her husband, Bill; a daughter, Julie E. Potter of Rome; a son and daughter in law, William P. and Jessie Potter of Herkimer; three sisters and brothers, Maryanne and Bill Abbot of Maryland, Karen and John O'Brien of Sauquoit, and Suzanne Petrie and Martin Johnson of Virginia; and a grandson, Finnegan Potter.
Funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
