Linda M. Martin, age 65, of Broadalbin, passed away September 23, 2026, at home under hospice care, with her loving husband, Tim, by her side.
She was born Linda Coss to Francis and Ann (Griffith) Coss on July 28, 1961, in Rome NY. She married Timothy Martin on September 24, 1988, in Remsen, NY. Linda was a disciplined self-learner. After several periods in formal higher education at SUNY Buffalo and MVCC, she thought being a stockbroker sounded interesting so turned from chemistry and respiratory therapy to finance. She ordered the materials, studied at home around work, and passed the licensing exam on her first try. She went on to work as a financial consultant for 25 years, first in the corporate world then for over 20 years as owner and principle at her own company, Martin Financial Services. Having her own firm allowed her to better care for her clients' interests, a theme that ran throughout her life: helping others.
Linda was a Big Sister for several years, did foster and adoptive care for over a decade, worked as a heath aid, and being bored after retiring from her business, she studied up, certified, and went back to work preparing taxes for several years. Linda was a person of strong-lived faith. She was just a few credits short of a bachelor's in theology from Andersonville Theological Seminary. Meanwhile she had established direct contact with several Christian orphanages overseas through online outreach and was helping provide food, clothing, medicine, and educational materials for the children. Many of these young children had to work at mud brick factories to pay off their deceased parents' debts. As fund raising and circumstance allowed Linda paid these debts so the child might attend school instead.
Linda loved laughing with and being with family and friends. She was in nearly daily contact with beloved siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends not to mention her online faith community. Linda loved the outdoors, and though the canoe camping trips, downhill skiing and similar were past, her daily dog walks continued apace. She adored her dogs; as an adult there was always at least one in her home.
Linda is survived by husband, Tim; son, Damion (Heidi) Martin; grandson, Oliver; siblings, Patty (Greg) Key, Ed Coss, and Dr. David (Kathy) Coss; niece and nephew, Kathy Griswald and daughter Lilly, and Dr. Casey (Alisha) Key and son Kayden; uncle and aunt, Beecher (Sandy) Coss; many beloved cousins; and best friend Joan. Linda was predeceased by both parents and brother, Alun.
