Lavinia M. Coleman

Lavinia M. Coleman, age 90, passed away peacefully, June 1, 2011, with her loving family by her side.
She was born September 14, 1920, in Stittville, a daughter of the late Charles and Grace Ball Rostiser. She attended Holland Patent Central School. Lavinia was united in marriage to John T. Coleman, Sr., in St. Peter's Church on December 18, 1937; he died May 25, 1980. She retired from the Marcy Psychiatric Center in the Food Service Department in 1980. She was a member of the Floyd Methodist Church.
Lavinia visited Alexandria Bay quite often where she enjoyed dancing to her son's music. She was an avid bird watcher as well as an admirer of flowers.
Lavinia is survived by two sons and daughters in law, John T. Jr., and MaryLou Coleman of Rome, and Paul C. and Barbara Coleman of Alexandria Bay; a daughter, Carole Jenkins of Floyd; 22 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Converse of Boonville. She was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Rostiser and Elvira Fallon.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 10:00 AM, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 215 W. Court Street, Rome. Burial will be in Townsend Cemetery, Stittville.
Relatives and friends may call at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Sunday 3 to 7 PM.
There also will be and Irish Wake Gathering at Coleman's Dock of the Bay, Alexandria Bay, on Sunday June 12, 2001 from 2 to 5 PM. Bring your own stories.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care.
