View Tribute Book Kevin Michael Austin, beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, at the age of 66.Born on November 6, 1958, Kevin grew up with a passion for life that inspired everyone around him. A proud member of the United States Air Force, Kevin served his country with honor and dedication. Outside of his service, he had a deep love for animals and nature, finding solace in the great outdoors.He was a 1977 graduate of Rome Free Academy.  An accomplished athlete, Kevin was a track star in his youth, receiving the Black “R” by excelling with determination and grace. His enthusiasm for sports extended beyond the track—he enjoyed baseball, hockey, boxing, and football, and he shared this love of competition and camaraderie with those close to him. In his later years, Kevin served his community as an electrician and could often be found helping his “crew” around the Franklin Hotel, especially while the Raiders were playing.Kevin is survived by his loving mother, Patricia Austin; his cherished daughter, Candace Austin; and his adored grandchildren, Brittany and Chase Austin. He will be deeply missed by his sister, Tricia (Marc) Macri; his brothers, Mark (Lisa) Austin and Jeffrey (Marie) Austin; nephews Nicholas and Marco Macri and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Roy H. Austin, Jr., and his brother, Roy H. Austin, III and sister-in-law, Carmella “Chi-Chi” Austin.Kevin’s kind heart, adventurous spirit, and unwavering devotion to his many pets over the years, family and friends will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the memories he created.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM, at St. Peter’s Church, 200 N. James Street.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kevin’s honor to The Nikki DeBlasiis Foundation, 1115 N. Madison St., Rome NY 13440 or Rovers Do Over, 2528 Southside Rd., Frankfort NY 13340.Arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W.
