View Tribute Book Katherine Elaine Edwards, age 82, of Ava, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Rome Health.Katherine was born in Allegany, NY on May 17, 1941 to the late Francis and Clarene Smith Norton. She graduated from Allegany Central School in 1959 and earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Buffalo.  She was united in marriage to Howard H. Edwards; a blessed union of 17 years until his passing on March 11, 1980. Katherine worked for many years at The Beaches Restaurant and retired as an operator from Varflex Corporation in Rome, NY.Katherine was a sports enthusiast and loved the Buffalo Bill and Syracuse Orange football and basketball teams. She had a passion for bowling, where she competed in many tournaments throughout New York State.  At King Pin Lanes, she played in many leagues and was an instructor for the bantam boys and girls leagues for many years.   She also enjoyed all forms of NASCAR, trout fishing, and playing fantasy football with her sons.Katherine is survived by her daughter, Susan Edwards; sons, Jeffrey (Joyce) Edwards, and Michael (Kim Petrie) Edwards; grandchildren, Amber (Mike) Dibble, Aaron (Sarah) Haynes, Dakota Edwards, Nicholas Miller, Joseph Gartner, Sydney Edwards, Jordan Miller, and Dalton (Kimberly Mathews) Edwards; great grandchildren, Jayden, Aryanna, Maddison, Gabriella, Alexander, and Jaxon; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Christina (Brannon)Carey, and brother, Robert Norton. She was blessed with three generations of family who cared for and loved her very much.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 12:30 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W.
