Karen S. Cummings, age 62, of Rome, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at the Wynn Hospital, with family by her side.

Karen was born in Rome on February 13, 1963, to the late James and Gertrude Storms Lyke, and earned her associate's degree from MVCC. Karen worked at Catholic Charities where she was a supervisor for 35 years.

She loved going to church and praising the Lord, as well as donating her time to the community. She loved helping people who were in need. She had a passion for animals and taking care of them. She also loved going out to lunch with her former co-workers and friends. Her biggest passion was her family, baking with her children and grandchildren, as well as going out and shopping with them.

She is predeceased by her two brothers, James & Robert Lyke, as well as her two sisters, Shirley Drake and Sandy Finch; and her longtime best friend and cousin, Patricia Murphy.

Karen is survived by her children, Tasha A. Green (Garry Brown), Adam Lyke, Jamillia Jones (Shaday Sarracent); her sisters and brother, Florence Aikens, Beverly Garofalo, and Ronald (Sandra); her fourteen grandchildren, Sa'Reyeah, Ah'Cyana, Xy'Relia, Za'Lani, Emmanuel, Nameer, Shamyra, Shaylena, Bryce, Taeshia, Adrian, Serenity, Diva, and Kya; several great grandchildren, as well as her furbabies, Everly, Lily, Lucy, Murphy, Maise, and Chico; several nieces and nephews, including her nephew, Dave Mendoza, and as well as her niece, Lee Testa, who were by her side when she passed; her very special friends, Ruth Morgan, Dave Cadrette, Anthony and Doreen DeJean, Pam Kuhn, Kelly Williams, Elizabeth Hadlock, Theresa Nebush, Joan Murphy, and special godson, Chad (Devyn) Murphy.
