June Ann Kapps, age 86, of Verona, passed away peacefully April 25, 2015
She was born November 22, 1928, in Rome, the daughter of the late Howard and Naomi Grimes Caraher. She graduated from Rome schools and the University of Albany. June was united in marriage to Ernest J. Kapps, Jr., on October 13, 1951; he died June 20, 1974. She was a very dedicated teacher for over 30 years at the J. D. George Elementary School in Verona. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and the Altar Rosary Society.
June was a devoted and faithful Catholic. She was very dedicated to her family and enjoyed the years spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling and quilting. Many of her quilts were given as gifts and still are enjoyed by family and friends.
June is survived by three sons and daughters in law, Howard and Karen Kapps of Wausau, WI, Gary and Janice Kapps of New Hartford, and Jeffrey and Barbara Kapps of Waterloo; grandchildren, Lance and Cyrstal Kapps, Susanne and Joseph Martillotti, Lisa and Christopher Mazzatti, Heather and Matthew Gindt, Courtney and Benjamin Fischer, Jessica and Andrew Lyons, Samantha and Kenyon Clark and Stuart Kapps, and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Howard Caraher, Jr.
The family wishes to sincerely thank Joyce and Ray Walker and Michele and Alan Vanderhoof for their years of friendship and care extended to June.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and at 10 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, in Verona. Burial will be in Verona Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday 4 to 7 PM.
