Joyce Nichols

Joyce M. Waits Nichols, age 67, of Rome, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2019, at the Abraham House in Rome.

She was born September 20, 1952, in Biloxi, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Lawrence J. and Lena Jones Waits. Joyce was united in marriage to Thomas A. Nichols, on August 18, 1973, in Biloxi, MS; he died April 28, 2018. She worked as a “disc jockey” while living in Biloxi.

Joyce is survived by two sisters and many neighbors and friends. She was predeceased by a brother.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the staffs of the Oneida Healthcare Center and the Abraham House, for their care, compassion, friendship and love extended to Joyce during her illness.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Blooming Grove Cemetery, in Rensselaer, NY.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Rome or The Abraham House in Rome.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
