Josephine M. Vinneau
Josephine M. Vinneau, 83, of Rome, passed away March 2, 2011, at Bethany Gardens, after a long illness.
She was born December 3, 1927, in Utica, daughter of John and Josephine Greer Maloney, and graduated from Utica Free Academy in 1946. Josephine was united in marriage to Hallie Vinneau on May 20, 1950, in Blessed Sacrament Church, in Utica; he died October 27, 2005. She was employed as a computer operator for the Rome City School District and later the Rite Aid Distribution Center in Rome. She was a member of St. Paul's Church.
Josephine's life revolved around her family, especially her daughters and grandchildren. She loved gardening and Crafting and was a very talented painter.
Josephine is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Susan and Vern (Buzz) Purrington of Conway, SC, and Kathleen and Vito Piemonte of Rome; grandchildren, Jeffrey Aderman and wife, Pam, and Katrina and Julianna Piemonte; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Katherine Knudsen and Margaret Brooks; and a brother, John Maloney.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Friday 4 to 7 PM
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rome Humane Society.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of Bethany Gardens for their care, compassion and friendship extended to Josephine; whom the staff affectionately called the "Chief".
