John P. Muttillo, age 85, of Rome, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 4, 2015 at his home.
John was born in Rome on March 6, 1930 to the late Emilio and Mary Galluccio. He attended the Rome Schools. He was united in marriage to the former Martha Cangiano. John worked at Pettibone from the mid 1950's until 1985. He also worked as a corrections officer at the Oneida County Jail and as a crossing guard at Rome Catholic School. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force.
John loved animals and frequently fed the local cats, birds and squirrels that came around his home.
John is survived by his loving wife, Martha; a son, John C. Muttillo of Rome; a granddaughter, Tiffany Mosca; two great, grandchildren, Jaeden Baptiste and Sanai Walker; two sisters, Louise Montalbano and Cynthia Muttillo, both of Rome; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister and two brothers in law, Shirley and Peter DiNardo and Anthony Montalbano; and a brother, Donald Muttillo.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery on Monday at 11AM.
