Obituary

John J. Corr II, age 46, of Rome, passed away unexpectedly on October 15, 2026.

John is survived by his loving wife, Jessica; his daughter, Vanessa; his father, John; his sister in law Lisa Clemmons and his nephew Jonah.; his mother in law and father in law Bill and Mary DeBlois. He also survived by his sisters, Shelley Kay (Dan) Knoblock, and Mary Jo Moon; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John was born on February 18, 1980, to John and Mary Lynn Carpenter Corr, and graduated from Rome Catholic High in 1998. On August 6, 2005, he was united in marriage to Jessica Martin. They were a perfect match for each other and shared a beautiful life together.

John had a beautiful daughter Vanessa that he absolutely cherished. He was such a great girl dad. They shared many moments together and he was taken from us too soon. Anyone that knew John knew he loved hockey and he was so happy and proud to share that love with her as her coach on the ice. Moments we will all cherish forever.

John was currently employed by the City of Rome and worked in the Buildings and Grounds Department. He also worked at Kennedy Arena. He loved going to work. He was dedicated to his job and he loved the friends that he had there especially Lenny Costello. Two peas in a pod.

John also loved going up to our camp on the St. Lawrence to relax and go on the boat. For everyone that knew John he never did sit and relax, but he did up on the river.

John and I would love for you to honor him with donations made to the Rome Hockey Association. He would love to know the hockey program will live on and young kids would play the game he loved so much. He was proud to be a product of the Rome Youth Hockey Association and would like nothing more for the people of Rome to stay in Rome to play and to build back up the program he loved.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 3 to 7 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Rome.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 24, at 9 AM, at the Church of St. John the Baptist.
