John E. Condon

John E. Condon, age 77, of Verona, passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2012, with his loving family at his side.
He was born July 31, 1934, in Rome, a son of John P. and Nettie Evans Condon, and graduated from VVS. John was married to the former Kathleen R. Robinson. He had many jobs over the years including assistant groundskeeper at Rogue's Roost Golf Course in Bridgeport. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served with the 82nd Airborne Division.
John loved being around people. Many of his friends referred to him as "lawnmower man". He could fix anything and always was willing to help his family and friends.
John is survived by his wife, Kathleen; daughter and son in law, Colleen and Daniel Winslow of Camden; two sons and daughters in law, John (Jack) B. and Kimberly Condon of Colorado, and James E. and Christine Condon of Munnsville; a sister, Jeanette Conley; and grandchildren, Tracey, Melody and Fiona Condon, Murphy Condon, Austin and Tori Meachum, John and Eric Davis and Maranda Condon. He was predeceased by two sisters, Marian Peek and Katherine Condon.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM, at St. Mary's Cemetery, on Irish Ridge Road, Durhamville.
There are no calling hours.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Rome.
